What is your current role and your connection with WiFA?

My name is Beth Wright, and an in house legal counsel for a private bank in Hong Kong. I have been involved in, set up or run Women’s Networks in every organisation I have worked for since I moved here in 2008 – it is something I am very passionate about!

Why and how do you support WIFA?

I joined WIFA in 2008 to run the Events Committee and became Co-Chair of the network from 2009-2017 and now sit on the Advisory Board. During my tenure, we grew the network from 500 members to over 3000 – including women working in all areas of finance. Being part of such a varied and expansive network is invaluable.

What advice would you give to women who want to advance their career?

My advice for women who want to lead is to take any and all opportunities that come your way. Put your hand up for committees, join networks, offer to organise or contribute and step outside of your comfort zone. You will learn invaluable leadership skills from working alongside others and by being brave enough to do something new and unfamiliar. Be prepared to start at the bottom and work your way through an organisation. I highly recommend joining NGOs and other networks for the wide variety of experience you will gain and the incredible people you will meet along the way.

Tell us one unexpected fact about you

In my spare time I am a Fitness and Nutrition Coach and I am equally as passionate about everyone feeling and being the healthiest version of themselves as I am about empowering women.
