- Tell us a little bit about yourself
I am the International Tax leader in the Southern Mainland of Deloitte China. I specialize in providing the cross-border tax advisory services to the MNCs with inbound investment in China, and Chinese corporations with outbound investment via the Hong Kong platform. I am also leading the Women Leadership Committee in Southern China for Deloitte, as well as a committee member of the China tax committee of HKICPA, and a committee member of different associations in Hong Kong and China. I’m also the mother of a 4-year old boy with her family living in Hong Kong, though I travel to China from time to time for work.
2. Think back to when you were starting out your career. What advice would you give your younger self?
Passion and teamwork are the keys to success. Love the work that you are doing, so that you will have the energy and perseverance to overcome the difficulties. Treat the people around you well including staff, clients, counterparties, friends, and family members, as all of them will be supporting you during the process. You cannot be successful without people to standby you. It is normal that you will have ups and downs, but with the passion and support given by the people surrounding you, if you are persistent in your beliefs, you will always able to find a way to grow and improve.
3. This year has brought tremendous upheaval and disruption to all aspects of our lives. How are you and your company continuing to promote diversity and gender equality despite these massive changes?
At Deloitte, empowering female leadership is part of our global commitment to diversity and inclusion (D&I), fostering a culture where everyone has equal opportunity to develop, succeed and be their truest self. In Deloitte China, we have National D&I Council, and Women Leadership Committee in different regions, comprising diversified influential practitioners in China, and actively emphasizing the importance of woman’s power via various activities and advocating the realization of women’s values and contributions.
2020 was no ordinary year but we thrived on making an impact for our people, clients, and society. During this time, we have supported our staff to work under the various flexible arrangements and offered flexibility to assist in their work-life balance and well-being. We continued to collaborate with different associations including WiFA, for female empowerment events both on and off-line.
4. Aside from work, what are your other passions?
Apart from work, I love spending time with my family. I have a 4-year old son who needs a lot of attention and care at this stage. Good time management and scheduling are very important to me. While both my career and family are paramount, the most important thing to me is my child, we learn from each other, and we grow together.
