Anita Ngai is the Regional Head of Compliance Regulations Management at Citibank. In her 2021 Spotlight Series interview, Antia shares what Citi’s promotion of diversity and inclusion, her motivations and more.
1.Tell us a little bit about yourself
I am the Regional Head of Compliance Regulations Management at Citibank based in HK. I also lead the Strategic partnership effort of Citi Women’s Network.
2. This year has brought tremendous upheaval and disruption to all aspects of our lives. How are you and your company continuing to promote diversity and gender equality despite these massive changes?
Despite the pandemic, Citi Women’s Network continues to actively promote various diversity and inclusion initiatives such as industry events, leadership talks, mentoring, parenting, as well as community and wellness topics for both men and women in the firm. The key is ensuring the message we deliver is contemporary and relevant which requires a lot of internal discussion and collaboration to generate material that delivers that right balance for our firm members.
3. How do you stay on top of your professional game? Any tips on how you keep your competitive edge?
Embrace the future with digital platforms and technology as we are living through a fundamental transaction in the way we work. We all need to innovate to find new ways to better serve our clients and their needs and be ready to address regulatory and markets issues.
4. Think back to when you were starting out your career. What advice would you give your younger self?
Try to broaden the network inside and outside of work. The networking relationships enable you to call on others for support, whether that is for advice, to obtain information, or to set up partnerships.
